Where in the world is Jay Hepburn?

June 6th, 2010

Things have been decidedly quiet here at Oh Gosh! over the past month or two – a fact for which I can only apologise. May and June have seen a flurry of trips for me – nothing compared to the amount of travel the likes of Xavier Padovani of Hendrick’s or John Gakuru of Sagatiba get up to, but quite enough to leave me a little exhausted! When you factor in a full-time day job and a significant other it doesn’t leave a whole lot of time to actually edit videos or write posts. Ironically the more popular Oh Gosh! becomes the less chance I have to actually produce anything for it.

The good news, however, is that all this travel means I have a whole heap of content in the queue including video from the Havana Club Grand Prix in Cuba, the excellent Cocktails & Spirits bar show, and Prescription Cocktail Club in Paris. While you’re waiting for me to edit those and get them on Oh Gosh! TV you could do worse than check out the video below – “The Global Bar Talk“. Put together by Jörg Meyer of Le Lion in Hamburg and Roberto Hegeler, it features Jim Meehan of PDT, Helmut Adam of Mixology, Steffen Lohr of Bacardi, as well as myself, chatting about our histories, global bar culture and the impact of social media.

Expect to see much more content at Oh Gosh! and Oh Gosh! TV as we move deeper in to June. However before that I have one more trip – a visit to Cognac for the G’Vine Gin Connoisseur World Finals, a global competition searching for the ultimate gin bartender. It promises to be an interesting competition, with some of the toughest challenges I’ve ever seen in a bartending competition, and with Philip Duff and Gary Regan involved, I’m sure a lot of fun too. I will be live-blogging the comp with Darcy at Art of Drink – but more on that tomorrow…
