Vermouth at 640 feet

Martini Rosso with the Paris skyline in the background

This week I’ve taken a quick train under the channel for a short break in Gay Paris. One of the things that always charms me in France is the ubiquity of alcohol… cafés, parks, McDonalds – there aren’t many places you can’t get at least a beer. Even 640 feet up Tour Montparnasse you can grab an apéritif to enjoy the sunset with. We have a lot to learn from the continent.

On a side note, if anyone knows of any cocktail bars worth checking out while I’m here, do let me know. Harry’s New York Bar and Bar Hemmingway at the Ritz are already on the list, but I’d love to know of more. If anyone knows any spirit shops that would be handy too… I’ve seen plenty of wine shops but spirits seem less well catered for.

    From Difford’s Guide #7:
    - Apicius, on 20 Rue d’Artois (between Rue de Berri & Rue Paul Baudry) – Lounge bar & restaurant
    - Bar le Forum, on 4 Boulevard Malesherbes (@Place de la Madeleine) – Old school cocktail lounge
    - Le Bar Montaigne, in Hotel Plaze Athenee, on 25 Avenue Montaigne (between Rue du Boccador & Rue Clement Marot) – Uber bling hotel lounge bar…

N-joy your trip, love your blog!

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I managed to get to Bar le Forum, I’ll write about my experience soon. Unfortunately I went by Experimental Cocktail Club on the last day I was in Paris but it was only mid-afternoon and was closed. It looks great though, will be top of my list next time I go!
