Tristan – Desmond was keen to point out that the whole steeping process, and indeed the inclusion of tea, was done because it tasted good not because it made for good marketing. As you say, proof is in the pudding! As for gin and coke… well, words defy me…

Nicely reasoned review. I’m inclined to agree with most of it. Try Beefeater 24 in a Sloe Gin Fizz. At first, the Sloe Gin dominates, as it usually does. But then after the third of fourth sip, the subtle tea flavors come through and add a new dimension. A sort of a Sloe Gin Ice Tea.

Nice review, the other (slightly cheesy) reason it’s called Beefeater 24 is to celebrate the city of London being a ‘24 hour party city’…

I wonder about the steeping in cold GNS for 24 hours, would that process add anything to making a cup of tea in a similar fashion? I also wonder if some of the botanicals may over-extract. But I guess the proof is in the pudding, and it is nice gin. I do agree with the price thing though, why so much?

Spain are mad about gin bizarely. There was a big gin boom there in the 60’s, but even more oddly they like to mix it with coke!

Tiare – it’s a good looking bottle for sure. The red bottom looks great in the right light.

Dominik – One of the most interesting things I learned whilst at the launch party was that Spain is Beefeater’s biggest consumer. I’m not surprised they’re sending it to the Middle East quickly, with the current climate here in the West I doubt premium products are doing as well as they were over here.

Tim – I’ve not, no. Sounds interesting, I’ll add it to my (ever expanding) list of bars to visit.
