A dash of Oh Gosh!
For some time now there have been two things I’ve wanted to do to improve Oh Gosh!. First off is replacing the automatic email updates from Feedburner that alert people when a new post is added to the site. They do the job, but are pretty ugly and didn’t provide me with much flexibility. Second I’ve wanted to add a “news” section on the site, as a way to write about shorter stories that don’t warrant a full post and link out to all the great newspaper articles and blog posts that I come across every week. Ironically given what a blog originally did – link out to other sites on the web – I don’t feel the format of the Oh Gosh! site lends itself well to that task.

I’m therefore pleased to announce the solution to both these issues – A dash of Oh Gosh!, a new weekly(ish) email newsletter that replaces the Feedburner-powered service used previously. As well as keeping you updated about the site A dash of Oh Gosh! will provide the latest news from the cocktail world and links to the best newspaper articles and blog posts I’ve come across. Best of all being a subscriber will allow you to take part in new regular prize giveaways, the first of which is coming very soon. I can’t say too much just yet, but the prize is very cool and winner will be the luckiest cocktail geek around. More on that next week.
You can subscribe by entering your email address at the top right-hand of this page, visiting the list page, or by commenting on this (or any other) post and making sure the “Subscribe to A dash of Oh Gosh!” button is ticked. Once verified you’ll be sent the first issue and automatically be sent all future issues. I hope you like the new newsletter, and as ever do let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
Rest assured the cocktail recipes, spirit reviews and bar videos will continue here as usual, and hopefully pick-up pace this month after a slow January. I’ve got some great London gin reviews coming up, as well as a look at an extinct rum-based liqueur and even more bitters to take a look at. That’s just for starters though – there’s plenty more to come in 2010 and I hope you will all stick around for the ride!
